A friend of ours has traveled off and on since ’06 and have had so decent and rewarding assignments. She wanted to share some thoughts: Do not be too set in your ideas as to what to expect. Remember not to be a pushover however never forget that you are there to assist. Make sure you get everything in writing, do the math on your pay check and don’t hesitate to ask questions. Be aware of any company where you cannot speak to the person that pays your bills. SHS comes to mind. The recruiter introduced to me by travelrnplus.com is amazing and is not afraid to tell me that I need to look at a different location or job opportunity. I had a bad experience with Strategic – was put up in a known dive crack house that actually ran its own prostitution ring like it was a McDonalds, seemed like millions served. I was not able to speak to anyone and then had to pay for hotel out of my pocket while other housing was arranged. Good luck! Travel is wonderful, see the country, meet new people. It gives back as much as you put into it.
